Fitbit Charge 3 Vs Gear Fit 2 Pro: Differences and Similarities

Here’s how Fitbit Charge 3 and Gear Fit 2 Pro compare to each other in detail:

Design and Display

Fitbit Charge 3 is a smartwatch band by Fitbit while Fit 2 Pro is a brand by Samsung.

Both watches come with touchscreen displays with the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro featuring a capacitive touchscreen. They are about the same size and are both rectangular and curved making both of them look stylish.

Like Fitbit Inspire 2, Fitbit Luxe, Fitbit Sense, and Fitbit Alta, you can change the band on Fitbit Charge 3 to customize the watch to match your outfit. Unfortunately, the band on the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro is not changeable.

Compatibility

Fitbit Charge 3 will provide fitness stats via the Fitbit Companion App while the Gear Fit 2 Pro will provide you with fitness insights through the Samsung Companion App.

You will sync your Fitbit or Samsung watch to the Fitbit or Samsung Companion App respectively through Bluetooth.

The Gear Fit 2 Pro smartwatch comes with a Bluetooth version of 4.2, BLE, while the Charge 3 comes with a Bluetooth version of 4.0. Both watches don’t require the use of cables to connect.

Location Tracking

If you love cycling your bike, and running and want a watch that will track your routes and paces consider the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro.

Unfortunately, Fitbit Charge 3, can not track your location when not connected to a phone or computer because it doesn’t have a built-in GPS tracker.

Gear Fit 2 Pro on the other hand is independent when it comes to tracking your routes and paces as you walk, run, or cycle and doesn’t need to be connected to a phone.

You need the Gear Fit 2 pro if you want to comfortably exercise without your phone nearby.

Notification

Fitbit Charge and Gear Fit 2 Pro both come with notifications like calendar reminders, text messages, incoming calls, and alarms.

Fitbit Charge 3 also add email to the list of notification but Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro does not.  You will also access a stopwatch, alarm clock, and reminders on both smartwatches.

Activity Tracking

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro and Fitbit Charge 3 are great options that will help you keep track of the number of calories burned daily, the quality and quantity of your sleep (sleep hours, Light, Deep, and REM sleep), the number of steps you make and the heart rate.

Battery Life

Go for a smartwatch that will provide you with the longest usage period. That way you will have much time to track your daily activities.

Fortunately, Fitbit Charge 3 and Gear Fit 2 Pro come with good battery life.  Fitbit Charge 3 runs for about 7 days when completely charged while the Samsung Fit 2 Pro lasts for about 5 days on a complete charge. Go for the Gear Fit 2 Pro if battery life is your number one priority.

Water-resistance

The waterproofing feature is one of the most important features you will consider looking at if you want a Fitbit watch that tracks swimming or a Samsung Watch that does that too.

Both Fitbit Charge 3 and Gear Fit 2 Pro are water-resistant for up to 5 ATM which means they can survive submersions of up to 50 meters underneath the water.

Fitbit Charge 3 and Samsung Fit 2 Pro are the best fitness trackers for swimming and hitting cold showers.

Fitbit Charge 3 or Gear Fit 2 Pro: Which Should You Buy?

You can choose one or both of the watches if money is not an issue: both watches are great and track almost the same activities.

However, the battery life of the Fitbit Charge 3 is better than the other watch.

On the other hand, if syncing speed is important to you, then the Gear Fit 2 Pro is the better option as it functions on Bluetooth v4.2.

Additionally, the Gear Fit 2 Pro also features a BLE connection, something that the Fitbit Charge 3 does not have.

Ultimately, your choice will greatly depend on the specific features that you are looking for in a fitness smartwatch.
