Display

Usually the bigger the screen size the better the user experience. And for that Fitbit makes the screen on Sense a lot more bigger than that you will find on the Galaxy Watch 4.

Fitbit Sense comes with a display size of 1.58 inches while Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a display size of 1.19 inches. The screens on both smartwatches are dustproof, sweat-resistant, and water-resistant.

In addition, Fitbit and Samsung brands watch damage resistant whereas Galaxy Watch 4 comes with Gorilla Glass DX+ while Fitbit Sense comes with the Gorilla Glass 3 version.

The displays on both smartwatches are touchscreen, always-on, and comfortable feel comfortable to the eyes hence easy to read.

Fitbit Sense features a display resolution of 336 x 336 pixels while Galaxy Watch 4 features a display of 396 x 396 pixels. Without forgetting the pixel density on Galaxy Watch 4 is 455ppi while that on Fitbit Sense is 301ppi.

Design

Talking of design, the Samsung and Fitbit Watch come with wristbands that are removable. And for that, you will be able to customize the watch to match your outfit.

Fitbit Sense will operate at a minimum temperature of -10°C and at a maximum temperature of 45°C. We are not clear on what minimum and maximum temperature Galaxy Watch 4 can operate on.

Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit Sense both feel comfortable and lightweight. Sense weighs about 48.0g while the Galaxy Watch 4 weighs about 46.5g.

In addition, the highest altitude the Fitbit Watch can operate at is 28,000 feet while the highest operating altitude for Galaxy Watch 4 is still unclear.

Both options are valid if you are looking for a smartwatch you can hang out with around the pool or beach and that’s because they both come with a water resistance rating. The water resistance rating of Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 is 50ATM.

That means both the Galaxy and Fitbit watches can be submerged in water for 50 meters and withstand pressure. You can have Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit Sense in the shower too.

However, you should avoid the sauna, lotions, shampoos, detergents, perfumes, pesticides, soap or soapy water, etc.

Sensors

Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 come with a SpO2 sensor which is responsible for monitoring the level of oxygen in the blood.

You will also get a Heart Rate monitor on both smartwatches. With the heart rate sensor the smartwatches will track your heartbeat, heart rate viability, resting heart rate, show you fitness levels, etc.

That’s not all, those who love cycling, running, jogging, or walking for long distances never get lost thanks to the GPS sensor included in Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4.

Apart from monitoring your location, the GPS sensor on both watches will be able to tell the distances covered while cycling, running, jogging, or walking.

Unfortunately, you don’t get a cadence sensor on either of the smartwatches. Meaning the Galaxy Watch and Fitbit Watch cannot track your cycling.

Fitbit Sense comes with a perspiration sensor that tracks your skin’s perspiration level. It is so sad we don’t have the perspiration feature on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.

You will find a compass on Galaxy Watch 4 and not on Fitbit Sense. The compass feature is important when using maps on the watch and gaming.

On the other hand, you will find a skin temperature sensor in Fitbit Sense and lack it on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Other sensors you will find on both Smartwatches are a barometer, accelerometer, and gyroscope.

Activity Tracking

Both Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 will be able to track the amount of distance covered while cycling, running, jogging, or walking. You will also be able to tell your paces with both Sense and Samsung Watch 4.

It doesn’t stop there, Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit Sense go ahead and track the number of calories your burn while working out and staying still.

Apart from sleep reports, Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 will provide you with activity reports after analysis. These reports will be available on Samsung and Fitbit apps or websites.

If you are a construction worker you will love either watch because they all come with elevation trackers that will detect changes in elevation when climbing stairs.

Additionally, setting your own goals is possible on both Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 for example you can set a goal of 20,000 steps a day and walk or run to achieve that.

You will also be able to switch from sport to sport e.g., cycling, running, swimming, etc. with either smartwatch.

Go for Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 if you want to track your swimming stroke at the pool or beach. Fitbit Sense cannot recognize your swimming strokes.

Connectivity

Fitbit Sense is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. On the other hand, Galaxy Watch 3 is only compatible with Android devices.

Both smartwatches support Wi-Fi and will be able to sync automatically and wirelessly. Nevertheless, Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 users will be able to transact right from their wrists with the help of the NFC feature.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 supports the GALILEO feature (a feature similar to GPS – Global Navigation Satellite System, GNSS) while Fitbit Sense doesn’t.

Lastly, on connectivity, Fitbit Sense is compatible with MAC OS X While Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is not compatible with the MAC OS X.

Additional Features

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit Sense come with call controls to help you respond to calls. You will also find an ECG sensor on either watch, this sensor will constantly monitor your heartbeat plus other heart activities and irregular heartbeat.

Although the Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 both have silent alarms only Fitbit Sense comes with a smart alarm.

You can now enjoy music on Fitbit Sense and Galaxy Watch 4 thanks to the internal storage included. Fitbit has an internal storage of 4GB while Samsung Watch 4 comes with a storage of 16GB.

Battery Life

You don’t need to worry about frequent charging when the smartwatch you have comes with good battery life. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a 247mAh battery which takes a maximum of two hours to charge to the mark.

Sadly, the battery only lasts for 2 days maximum. On the other hand, the Fitbit Sense smartwatch has a good battery life compared to Galaxy Watch 4.

It takes about 1 to 2 hours to charge its 266mAh battery fully. The battery will run for 6+ days on smartwatch mode and for about 12 hours with GPS mode on. You get also have a battery indicator on either of the smartwatches.
